Our expert kaiako
Fiona
With over 15 years of experience in the field of education, Fiona is a seasoned professional dedicated to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment for all children. Her teaching approach is anchored in a partnership with Te Tiriti o Waitangi and guided by Te Whāriki, aligning closely with the New Zealand Curriculum. Fiona believes in the vital role of integrating family, whānau, and community into each child’s learning journey. Her aim is to cultivate each child’s social, physical, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual growth, supporting them to become independent, creative, and imaginative. Through her efforts, she equips children with the skills necessary to become lifelong learners.
Juanita
A proud mum of four, wife, and owner of Kowhai Consultancy Services, Juanita operates three Early Childhood Education centres across the Bay of Plenty. After years of parenting, she set out to build the kind of ECE space she wished her own children had had — one where families feel like whānau, not clients. At the heart of her work is the desire to build a nurturing space for children and families, where everyone feels valued, heard, and supported.
Frequently asked questions
What age can my child enrol?
Children are welcomed from toddler age through to preschool, with learning environments designed to support children from approximately 2 years old through to 5 years old. Our groups include Little Elephants, Little Rhinos, and Little Lions. During your visit, please ask us about the most suitable learning space for your child’s age and stage of development.
We are also excited to share that we are planning to add a dedicated nursery extension for babies next year. We will keep our families and community updated as plans progress and will share more information about timelines and enrolment opportunities closer to the start date.
Do you offer 20 Hours ECE?
Yes — every child aged 3, 4 and 5 in New Zealand is entitled to up to 20 hours of free early childhood education per week.
What are the hours & fees?
Open 8:15am–4:45pm, Monday to Friday. 20 Hours ECE applies for 3–5 year olds — call us on 0800 323 543 for current fees for your child’s age and days.
What are your ratios?
We keep groups small, with 100% qualified kaiako. Every room meets the Ministry of Education’s required ratios — ask us on your visit about the current ratios in each room.
